Madigan deserves credit for inclusiveness

Illinois' speaker of the House and Democratic Party leader, Michael Madigan, merits commendation and approbation for his admirable inclusiveness. He's a long-standing political figure who has embraced the empowerment of African Americans, Hispanics, Asians, women, gays and both liberal and conservative white Democrats. Madigan supports both pro-choice and pro-life candidates if they also have other substantive qualifications that warrant their election. His supporters include environmentalists, animal advocates and hunters. Madigan respects and advocates diversity, equality and the virtues of fostering a strong and united coalition. These are some of the many compelling reasons why he is one of the most influential political leaders in Illinois for the past three decades. He deserves laudation instead of condemnation.
