Thanks for backing gun control measures
As a member of The Northwest Suburbs of Chicago Organizing for Action gun violence prevention team, and a constituent of Rep. Marty Moylan, I would like to thank him for helping pass sensible gun laws in the past couple weeks.
For the past four years, our team worked in coalition with the Illinois Council Against Gun Violence, The Brady Campaign and Moms Demand Action to get The Gun Dealer Licensing Act passed. Thank you, Rep. Moylan, for your support on helping us pass this legislation.
I know you are a family man who puts children and families first. I thank you for pushing for the minimum age of 21 to buy a semi-automatic weapon, and increasing the wait period to buy a rifle to 72 hours, addressing issues of anger and erratic behavior that often lead to suicides and homicides as seen at Stoneman Douglas, Sandy Hook, Columbine and other heart wrenching events across our country.
Thank you for introducing and passing legislation that bans "bump stocks" and "trigger cranks", which are horrific gun add-ons that turn a semi-automatic weapon into an automatic killing machine, as we saw in Las Vegas.
We need more strong leaders like you in our state's General Assembly, as well as those representing Illinois in Washington, D.C., to stand up to the NRA and gun lobby advocates. Thank you for caring about "We The People" and putting our next generation first.
