Superintendent deserves national honor

In regards to David R. Schuler, Township H.S. District 214's being named 2018 National Superintendent of the Year, no one deserves it more.

From the day he started in D214, he demonstrated his commitment and compassion for all students, including groups that are put aside in other school districts.

I remember the day he came into my office, he was excited and willing to listen about what I saw in terms of needs of students.

A superintendent speaking with a school nurse! He genuinely cares about all of the students and wants all to succeed.

He gradually made changes to strengthen programs to help students not only graduate from high school but giving them the opportunity to attend college.

Years ago, he spoke about cradle to career. He has championed that phrase across D214, across Illinois, and the nation.

Professionally and personally from his own career to his own family, he lives his beliefs. Congratulations, Dr. Schuler.
