Gov. Rauner's misguided budget

Okay, local districts will take over pensions as soon as 1) the state pays all past due amounts, you know the payments that were skipped to support otherwise unfunded spending and 2) we have an opportunity to pass a constitutional amendment removing the protection of these pensions since there is nothing to protect any other citizen of Illinois' pension.

What Gov. Rauner is suggesting for pension reform will fail in the courts due to the current language that stupidly protects these pensions. What was promised must be paid, but changes need to be made so that pension recipients do not end up making more in retirement than they do in salary. The padding of salary amounts just before retirement needs to be made illegal with punishment for those giving out this benefit. The requirement that the tax payers for a school district have to pay a fine for what is passed by the wrongheaded administrators and school board members is wrong. Punish those doing the wrong.
