Tax-loving Democrats opposed to reform
Instead of blaming the few Republicans in Illinois government wanting tax reform, maybe we should blame the Democrats who control this state.
The problem facing the working class in this state and other blue states like NY, CA, etc., is that the reform bill would eliminate the SALT writeoffs (State And Local Taxes) and limit property tax write offs to $10,000. We are the second-highest state in property taxes. Maybe if these big blue Democratic states didn't tax their people to death at the state level, the tax reform bill would look much better.
But, I'm sure IF our working class does get a small tax break, Madigan & Co. will find a way to tax it.
And, what is wrong with corporations getting a tax break and keeping jobs in this country? Maybe it's because these corporations and smaller businesses want nothing to do with our state? Life is much more appealing in our neighboring states.
Also, why shouldn't the rich get a break, too? They got rich by working and/or hiring, yet they should be punished? The top 10 percent pay 70 percent of our federal taxes and 40 percent of the population pay no taxes at all. If tax breaks can keep jobs here and help the working class who still pay state taxes, then what is the problem with tax reform?
So, put the blame on the tax-loving Madigan Democrats for destroying the state and making the new vehicle of choice a U-Haul.
