An interesting change

Last Sunday's Opinion page's editorial was on the issue of eliminating the Electoral College. You know that is not going to happen. What would make more sense is to eliminate "winner-take-all" in each state. A vote for a Republican candidate in Illinois is a throw away vote. A vote for a Democratic candidate in Texas is a throw away vote. What if each candidate got the number of votes in each state based on their percentage of the vote times the number of Electoral College votes for that state? I did the math with the 2016 election and Trump would have gotten 252.9 votes, Clinton 257.3 and "other" 27.8. So neither candidate would have received the needed 270 votes and the election would go to the House of Representatives. That would have been very interesting.
