College libraries behind the times

College books can come with ridiculous price tags. Many state-supported universities digitize and restrict access of libraries, their own books, to decrease their own costs. In and prior to the 1990s, public university libraries built on years of tax dollars were open and available to the public. Now, some provide token access by providing a couple terminals on a first-come first-serve basis.

Has anyone heard of the internet? Our country went from operating around 100 publicly funded dental libraries to zero when we need one digital collection - leadership void. Who stands up for libraries with digital access for students and the public that paid for them? Everybody has to get paid/ The publishers need to be protected, even if it means we become more medieval. Let your college alumni association know you are tired of supporting their billion-dollar endowments.
