Grandma not happy with wading pool fee

To say I am disappointed in the Arlington Heights Park District would be an understatement. I took my granddaughter, just turned 3 years old, to Camelot Park this afternoon to use the wading pool, and I was informed that she was free but Grandma and Grandpa needed to each pay a $6 resident fee to enter the pool area.

Neither I or my husband (Grandpa) had on a bathing suit because we only planned to watch our granddaughter splash around in the water a bit. At this age, 30 minutes or so is all their attention span can hold, so to pay $12 would be an outrage especially for retired seniors.

We have been residents of Arlington Hts for almost 50 years which makes me wonder how much money we have contributed over the years to AHPD in our taxes.

When our own children were young, we purchased the necessary pool passes, but never dreamed that a fee would be incurred to simply spend 30 minutes with a small child in the wading pool.

Really, is this fair to the Arlington Heights residents, especially your seniors? Time to rethink this policy!
