LGBT views not just a matter of numbers

In the June 19 edition of The Daily Herald, professed sympathizer with the LGBT community, Willis Lambertson uses numbers to make a case for I'm not sure what. He states that 3.8 percent (12.1 million) of the U.S. population of 318.9 million identify as LGBT, pointing out that that is approximately the combined population of Chicago, Milwaukee, Rockford, Springfield and Peoria.

I think he is implying that large numbers of a group give credence to it and we should respect it because of its size.

According to lawyer Rick Jones, ex-director of Neihborhood Defender Service of Harlem, some 65 million people have a criminal record, at the close of 2003. France has a population of 66 million. 17 percent of us (54 million) cheat on their taxes.

Mr. Lambertson implies that the LGBT people are told that their relationships are null and void, they must seek psychological counseling and they can't have children, none of which is fact and would be a denial of their constitutional rights. They are guaranteed the right to live their lives as they desire no matter what some of their fellow citizens may think of said lifestyles.

And those of us who are not LGBT have the legal right to look upon them with disdain or approval.
