Health plan would devastate business

While the failure of the American Health Care Act (AHCA), the Republican plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA), was welcome news for small business owners across the country, talks of reviving the bill are worrisome. If the replacement plan had moved forward, it would have been devastating for entrepreneurs who struggled to obtain health coverage for themselves and their employees prior to the ACA.

In fact, new polling from Small Business Majority found small businesses prefer the ACA to the AHCA by a 2-1 ratio. The survey also found small businesses opposed key components of the replacement plan, and the only specifics of the plan they did support are provisions already available under the ACA.

It should come as no surprise then that nearly six in 10 small business owners support the current health care law.

Entrepreneurs around the country don't want or need another health care overhaul; what they need is quality, affordable health coverage so they can focus on running their businesses. Now that the ACA will continue to be the law of the land, we hope Congress can move on to other legislation that will support the success of small businesses.
