CEO of Delta Dental of Illinois announces retirement

Bernard Glossy, president and CEO of Delta Dental of Illinois, plans to retire at the end of 2018 after eight years leading Delta Dental of Illinois and more than 30 years in the health care sector.

Glossy is also president and CEO of Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation and Delta Dental of Illinois' two subsidiary companies, and will retire from those positions as well.

"Under Bernie's leadership, Delta Dental of Illinois has more than doubled its annual premium revenue, Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation has made significant strides in improving oral health in Illinois, and Delta Dental of Illinois' subsidiaries have expanded nationwide and are well positioned for future growth," said Dr. Frank Maggio, Delta Dental of Illinois board chairman.

Delta Dental of Illinois' board of directors, along with a professional executive search firm, is handling the search for a replacement.

"I'm extremely proud of what our team has accomplished at Delta Dental of Illinois," Glossy said. "We've achieved significant growth, furthered our foundation's mission to improve oral health and continued to provide exceptional service while remaining focused on our values and sustaining our culture, which remains the foundation of all we do."

Prior to joining Delta Dental of Illinois in July 2010, Glossy was president and CEO of Delta Dental of Arizona for eight years.
