Sente hosts small business summit

VERNON HILLS - To better inform local entrepreneurs about the state's resources for businesses, State Rep. Carol Sente of Vernon Hills co-hosted a Small-Business Summit at the College of Lake County this week.

During the summit, Sente provided a legislative update on business legislation from the recent legislative session. Sean McCarthy, Director of the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and other DCEO staff presented on state resources and programs available including workforce development, site selection, tax credits, lending and business plans. Finally, Kevin Considine, CEO of Lake County Partners, Lake County's pre-eminent economic development organization, presented on how his organization could assist small business expansion.

"Collaboration between small businesses and elected officials will lead to new breakthroughs, innovations and job creation right here at home and throughout our state," Sente said. "My Small-Business Summit was one such collaboration that I see as a continued conversation between leaders in business and state government to foster economic growth."
