CoreSource names Atkins chief medical leader

CoreSource, an employee benefit administrator, has appointed Meera K. Atkins, M.D., as Chief Medical Leader.

She will work from CoreSource's home office in Lake Forest and will lead a team of six direct reports.

"Her role as CoreSource's new strategic thought leader includes oversight and leadership of our Health Care Management team, as well as assisting Trustmark's sister companies Starmark and HealthFitness in their medical oversight," said Nancy Eckrich, president of CoreSource.

Dr. Atkins has practiced medicine for 20 years as a physician and surgeon and, immediately previous to Trustmark, served as Aetna's Medical Director for the Great Lakes Region. She holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown, Ohio, an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Combined Sciences from Youngstown State University, Youngstown, Ohio. She is also board certified in Obstetrics/Gynecology.
