Police: Kildeer woman who robbed bank caught shortly after

Bail was set at $200,000 Tuesday for a 50-year-old Kildeer woman accused of stealing about $20,000 from a bank in town the day before.

Tina Lambert of the 21000 block of York Court is charged with armed robbery, burglary and felony theft. Lambert will remain at the Lake County jail unless she can post $20,000 in cash to be released.

She was taken into police custody Monday morning near a bank authorities said she had just robbed.

Lambert entered the Bank of America at 20263 N. Rand Road just after the branch opened at 10 a.m. Monday, told an employee she had a gun and instructed the employee to put money in a duffle bag, police said. Lambert did not display a gun during the robbery, police said.

Police Chief Steve S. Balinski said bank officials called 911 at 10:03 a.m. and officers arrived on-site in just a few minutes. Balinski said officers found Lambert standing near the intersection of Rand and Plum Grove roads, within a few hundred feet of the bank.

Balinski said it appeared as if Lambert was waiting. He said Lambert lived about a mile from the bank but did not appear to be trying to walk home with the money.

Police said Lambert confessed to officers about her involvement in the robbery and that she had around $20,000 in a duffle bag.
