Southern Illinois woman pregnant with daughter's twins

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A southern Illinois woman is set to give birth to her own grandchildren because her daughter is unable to get pregnant.

Micaela (mih-KAY'-luh) Johnson was diagnosed with a rare form of cervical cancer in 2015. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports she and her husband froze their embryos before Johnson underwent a treatment process that left her infertile.

Johnson wanted to expand her family after being cancer free for two years. The 26-year-old asked her mother, Sheila Gump, to carry her children.

Gump is 43. That still makes her a good candidate for surrogacy.

She's expected to give birth to her daughter's twins - one boy and one girl - in July.

Gump says she's excited to "spoiling" her grandchildren.
