Red Bulls goalie Robles out after record 183 straight starts

HARRISON, N.J. (AP) - The longest streak of consecutive regular-season starts by an MLS player is ending after nearly six seasons.

The New York Red Bulls announced Saturday that goaltender Luis Robles is going to miss Sunday's match against Atlanta United with a knee injury. It will snap a run of 183 starts that began late in the 2012 season. It spanned 16,470 minutes, with 86 wins and 52 shutouts.

Robles set a new league record for consecutive starts in 2016 with No. 119 against New York City FC. He broke Kevin Hartmann's league record of 112 complete games against Colorado that season.

The Red Bulls' captain was hurt last week against the Colorado Rapids. His status is week to week.

Ryan Meara will replace Robles in goal. Evan Louro is the backup.
