2nd man convicted in South Bend shootout that left 2 dead
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - The second of six men charged in connection with a South Bend double slaying has been convicted of two counts of murder and one count of dealing in methamphetamine.
The South Bend Tribune reports 35-year-old Joshua Sage is scheduled for sentencing June 13 after a St. Joseph Superior Court jury found him guilty Thursday in the August shooting deaths of 29-year-old Damon Bethel and 25-year-old Anton James Jr.
Five other men have been charged in connection with a drug-related shootout that left two other people critically injured. One of the five, 38-year-old Robert Lee Brady Jr., was sentenced Tuesday to 18ˆ½ years in prison after being convicted last month on two counts of dealing in methamphetamine and one count of carrying a handgun without a license.
