DePaul's Strus to declare for draft, won't hire agent

CHICAGO (AP) - DePaul says star guard Max Strus intends to declare for the NBA draft, though he will remain eligible for his senior season by not hiring an agent.

Strus averaged a team-leading 16.8 points and hit 81 3-pointers - second on the program's single-season list - as a junior. The plan announced Wednesday gives him a chance to gauge NBA teams' interest. He has until June 11 to decide if he will turn pro or stay in school.

DePaul went 11-20 in its 11th straight losing season. The Blue Demons haven't been to the NCAA Tournament since 2004.
