Officer dragged by motorist who fled Chicago traffic stop

CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago police say an officer is expected to be OK after being dragged by a motorist who fled from a traffic stop.

Police say officers in a marked squad car stopped a vehicle about 12:40 a.m. Tuesday in the city's Chicago Lawn neighborhood and a weapon was spotted on the floor of the backseat.

The motorist drove away, dragging the officer before the vehicle crashed. Police say the motorist fled on foot and was taken into custody. The officer had what were described as non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Names of those involved weren't immediately released.
