Nebraska women pull away late in 4th, beat Michigan 61-54

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Hannah Whitish scored 10 of her 17 points in the fourth quarter to help No. 3 seed Nebraska beat sixth-seeded Michigan 61-54 in a Big Ten Conference Tournament quarterfinal on Friday night.

The Cornhuskers (21-9) will play 17th-ranked and second-seeded Maryland (24-6) in a Saturday semifinal.

Whitish finished 6 of 13 from the field and made two of her three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter. Nicea Eliely added 12 points for Nebraska.

Hallie Thome scored 21 points and Katelynn Flaherty added 17 to lead Michigan (22-9).

Whitish made a 3-pointer, Jasmine Cincore converted a 3-point play and Janay Morton added a layup during an 8-2 surge that stretched the Cornhuskers' lead to 51-44. Flaherty then hit a 3 and Thome made a layup to pull Michigan to 51-49 with 4:30 remaining. Whitish scored seven of the Huskers' last 10 points.
