Arizona women use 31-16 3rd quarter to beat Washington 72-70

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Lucia Alonso scored 19 points with five 3-pointers and Arizona used a 31-16 third quarter to beat Washington 72-70 on Sunday.

Arizona led by 16 points with 5:08 remaining in the game but JaLea Bennett made the Wildcats' final field goal at 4:38. The Huskies ended the game on a 19-5 run, including Mai-Loni Henson's 3-pointer in the closing seconds.

Sam Thomas had 11 points and 10 rebounds for Arizona (6-17, 2-10 Pac-12). Bennett added 14 points and Marlee Kyles 13. The 31 points were Arizona's highest quarter output since Dec. 7, 2016. Alonso had her most points since scoring 21 on Dec. 17 against Hawaii.

Alonso beat the third-quarter buzzer with a 3-pointer from the wing to extend Arizona's lead to 56-51.

Jenna Moser scored 17 points for Washington (7-16, 1-11) and Henson had 13 points and 10 boards.
