Woodridge man accused of repeatedly driving past girl in Arlington Heights

A Woodridge man staying in Arlington Heights to look after his ill father has been charged with disorderly conduct after being accused of repeatedly driving past a 12-year-old girl who was walking home from school in Arlington Heights.

Douglas Pittas, 56, of the 1800 block of 71st Street in Woodridge, was charged Jan. 24 by Arlington Heights police. He has a court date of March 15 at the Cook County Courthouse in Rolling Meadows.

The girl told her mother she had seen a man on Jan. 16 in a particular vehicle driving past her slowly before turning around and driving back multiple times in the vicinity of Hickory and Marion, according to police. The man never made any attempt to make contact with the girl but only watched her, Sgt. Charles Buczynski said.

The girl noticed the man a second time some days later, Buczynski said.
