Chicago police shoot man officers say was attacking woman

CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago police say officers responding to a domestic disturbance call shot a man who was attacking a woman.

Sgt. Rocco Alioto says police received a 911 call around 5:40 a.m. for an attack occurring outside a home on the 7600 block of South Ada Street. Officers saw the man attacking the woman and fired multiple rounds, hitting the man.

The man and woman were taken to a hospital, where police say they're in serious but stable condition. A police spokesman says officers believe the woman was stabbed. It's unclear if she was hit by gunfire.

Alioto says the shooting was captured on a police body camera. He says the officers will be placed on a routine 30-day administrative leave pending an investigation by the Civilian Office of Police Accountability.
