Jekot scores 21, No. 21 Villanova women beat Xavier 75-57

VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) - Kelly Jekot scored 10 of her 21 points in the decisive third quarter and Megan Quinn finished with 10 points to help the No. 21 Villanova women beat Xavier 75-57 on Friday night.

Jekot hit three 3-pointers, grabbed five rebounds and had six assists. Alex Louin added eight points and a career-high eight assists for Villanova (12-2, 2-2 Big East).

The Wildcats took a 30-24 lead into the break before Quinn and Jekot hit back-to-back 3s to open the third quarter and spark a 10-2 run that pushed the lead into double figures for good. Jekot added a conventional 3-point play and another 3-pointer, the latter of which made it 50-34 with three minutes left in the third.

Jada Byrd scored 12 points and Imani Partlow added 11 for Xavier (8-5, 1-2). The Musketeers came in averaging 8.6 made 3s per game and allowing their opponents to shoot just 38.3 percent from the field. Xavier made just 4 of 15 (26.7 percent) from 3-point range on Friday and Villanova made 27 of 55 (49.1 percent) from the field, including 17 of 28 (60.7 percent) in the second half.

Adrianna Hahn hit a 3 just 11 seconds in and the Wildcats never trailed.
