Manchester University plans new classroom, office building
NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. (AP) - A private university in northern Indiana says it's constructing a new $8.5 million classroom and office building to accommodate recent years of student enrollment growth.
Manchester University says it will break ground in May on the two-story Lockie and Augustus Chinworth Center. The building is named for the parents of Manchester alumnus Herb Chinworth, who died last year and contributed more than $5 million to the school.
Manchester spokeswoman Anne Gregory tells The (Fort Wayne) Journal Gazette that the nearly 1,600-student school has run out of space after setting enrollment records in 2015 and 2016.
The new building on the campus in North Manchester is expected to be completed in 2019. It will house the College of Business, along with the registrar, financial services and study-abroad offices.
