Jo scores 2 goals as Corinthians win Brazilian championship

SAO PAULO (AP) - Former Manchester City striker Jo scored two goals as Corinthians beat Fluminense 3-1 on Wednesday to claim its seventh Brazilian championship.

The Sao Paulo-based club won the tournament with three games in hand.

Fluminense opened the scoring in the first minute on a goal by Henrique. Jo responded in the second half with a goal in the 46th minute and another just two minutes later. Jadson netted the third in the 84th.

Jo is the current top scorer of Brazil's main tournament with 18 goals.

Corinthians last won the title in 2015.

Corinthians coach Fabio Carille served as an assistant to current Brazil coach Tite.

The main challengers of Corinthians in the Brazilian championship were Gremio and local rivals Palmeiras and Santos.
