LA Rams place safety Cody Davis on injured reserve

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) - The Los Angeles Rams have placed safety Cody Davis on injured reserve.

The Rams made the move Friday with Davis. The fifth-year pro hasn't practiced since injuring his thigh nearly three weeks ago at Jacksonville.

Davis has one interception and 22 tackles this season for the Rams (5-2), who moved to a new defensive scheme this season under coordinator Wade Phillips. Davis played extensively on defense in the final four games before his injury.

The injury depletes the Rams' depth at safety as they travel to face the New York Giants this weekend.

Los Angeles waived longtime safety Maurice Alexander on Oct. 9. Rookie John Johnson and veteran Lamarcus Joyner are the Rams' starting safeties.
