ETSU converts 3 turnovers in 16-3 win over Robert Morris

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) - Austin Herink connected with Drake Powell for a touchdown late in the second quarter to help East Tennessee State to a 16-3 win over Robert Morris on Saturday.

Three of four scores, including the touchdown for the Buccaneers (3-3), were set up by turnovers.

The first came with 5:17 left in the opening quarter when Dylan Weigel forced a fumble that was recovered by Jeremy Lewis and led to a 30-yard field goal by JJ Jerman for the first points of the game.

In the second quarter, ETSU was forced to punt but the return was fumbled by Warren Robinson and recovered by ETSU's JD Griffin, setting up the 5-yard TD grab three plays later by Powell.

Midway through the third quarter, Austin Gatewood forced a fumble by RMU's Jimmy Walker and Dylan Weigel recovered, leading to a Jerman's 21-yard field goal seven plays later.

Jerman, who finished 3 of 6 on his field goal attempts, capped ETSU's scoring with an 18-yard field goal with 4:28 left in the third quarter.

Robert Morris (2-3) got a 32-yard field goal midway through the fourth quarter from Nick Bisceglia to cap a 60-yard drive and avoid the shut out.
