2019 trial date set in Lovelace lawsuit against Quincy

QUINCY, Ill. (AP) - A trial date has been set for October 2019 in a lawsuit brought by a former Illinois prosecutor who was acquitted in the 2006 death of his first wife.

The Quincy Herald-Whig reports that a court filing last week says Curtis Lovelace's case against the city of Quincy, police, Adams County and two county officials will start Oct. 15, 2019. Pretrial events are scheduled for Sept. 30, 2019. Lovelace and his family filed the lawsuit in May, alleging he was the subject of malicious prosecution and was deprived of his constitutional rights as well as due process.

A Sangamon County jury acquitted Lovelace in March of first-degree murder in the February 2006 death of Cory Lovelace.

The lawsuit doesn't list a monetary amount Lovelace and his family is seeking.
