4 conservationists named to Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Four longtime conservationists are being named to the Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame.

The Illinois Conservation Foundation announced the 2017 hall of fame class on Friday.

Bob Becker of Brighton is the founding member and an officer of Migratory Waterfowl Hunters Inc., which works to protect and restore waters, forests, fields and wildlife.

David Nelson of Barrington is one of his area's most active volunteers, serving as a board member and past president of the Barrington Area Conservation Trust.

Michael Wanless of Springfield created Friends of the Outdoors to provide outdoor recreation opportunities to Illinois youth.

Glenda Zanders of Evansville is owner of Zanders Sporting Goods and a strong supporter of conservation programs such as Ducks Unlimited.

The inductees will be recognized Aug. 19 at the Illinois State Fair.
