Wild ponies swim across Chincoteague in 92 annual event

CHINCOTEAGUE, Va. (AP) - It's time for the 92 annual Chincoteague pony penning.
Organizers say the wild ponies of Assateague Island will swim across to Chincoteague Island, Va., Wednesday morning.
The event draws thousands of tourists each year and was memorialized in Marguerite Henry's novel "Misty of Chincoteague."
An auction of a portion of the herd benefits the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Department.
