Schaumburg hires consultant to design entertainment district

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (AP) - A Chicago suburb will pay a consultant nearly $250,000 to create a master plan for an entertainment district.

The Daily Herald reports (http://bit.ly/2vednAu ) that Schaumburg trustees approved the contract for Ginkgo Planning and Design Inc. on Tuesday. The company is expected to complete a plan in about 10 months for the area near Algonquin and Meacham roads.

It will include an existing convention center and a possible performing arts center along Interstate 90, which is also known as the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway.

Schaumburg Economic Development Manager Matt Frank says the contract is for design work that will complement work Ginkgo has been doing for the village on the former Motorola Solutions campus.
