Police say one woman was killed when a man trying to flee from officers crashed an SUV into their car on Chicago's South Side
CHICAGO (AP) - Police say one woman was killed and another injured when a man trying to flee from officers crashed an SUV into their car on Chicago's South Side.
Police say officers stopped the SUV about 1 a.m. Saturday after seeing some inside it firing gunshots in the Englewood neighborhood. Officers told a passenger in the stopped SUV to get out and when he did the SUV's driver sped away and crashed into a sedan.
Authorities say the woman driving the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy found she died of blunt force injuries suffered in the crash. Police say a 21-year-old female passenger in the sedan was taken to the hospital where her condition was stabilized.
The SUV passenger faces a misdemeanor charge of possession of ammunition without a valid Firearm Owners Identification card.
