Obama Foundation seeks library construction management firms

CHICAGO (AP) - The Obama Foundation is looking for firms interesting in managing construction for the planned presidential library in Chicago.

The manager will join existing teams and help with pre-construction services, like cost estimates and logistics planning during the design phase. The Obama Foundation says the requests for proposals are due July 7 and they're also looking for firms with a commitment to inclusion and diversity.

Officials have said construction of The Obama Presidential Center will take about four years, with programming starting this year.

Drawings of the facility to be located on the city's South Side lakefront show three structures, including a tower-like museum and tree-lined walkways. Officials say there will also be a public plaza and classroom space.
