Decatur dad charged in crash that killed 1-year-old daughter

DECATUR, Ill. (AP) - A Decatur man has been jailed on $300,000 bond after his arrest on preliminary charges related to a crash that left his 1-year-old daughter dead.

Police say 30-year-old Matthew D. Jackson had a blood-alcohol content that was more than three times the legal limit after the May 15 crash. Jackson's license was suspended at the time and he was serving a term of court supervision for a DUI conviction. He was arrested on three counts of aggravated DUI.

It was immediately unclear if Jackson has an attorney. A listed phone number couldn't be located.

Authorities say Jackson was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Impala when the vehicle collided head-on with another vehicle.

Jackson's daughter Ava Talifero-Jackson was seated in a rear passenger seat. She was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
