Chicago-area teen expelled in grade scheme returns to class

CHICAGO (AP) - A 15-year-old suburban Chicago student expelled for taking part in a scheme to hack into his school's grading system is back in class.

The Chicago Tribune reports (http://trib.in/2qfJzRe ) the sophomore at Glenbrook North High School filed a lawsuit against the school board, saying he only played a marginal role in the scheme.

Cook County Circuit Judge Thomas Allen granted a request by the student's attorney this month to stop the disciplinary actions "until further order of court" and ordered the student be allowed to return to school.

The judge also set an August hearing date to consider the student's claims that the punishment was "unreasonable."

The student is identified only by initials in the lawsuit. The student's attorney declined comment.

Officials with Glenbrook High School District 225 also declined comment.
