Georgetown women's hoops coach Adair taking Delaware job

NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Georgetown's Natasha Adair is heading to Delaware to become its women's basketball coach.

Delaware announced the hiring Sunday. Longtime coach Tina Martin stepped down last month after leading the Blue Hens for 21 years. She had 408 wins.

"It became clear very quickly during this search that Natasha was the right person to lead this program," Blue Hens athletic director Chrissi Rawak said. "She brings a competitive spirit to all she does and is committed to helping young women grow on the court, in the classroom and in the community, embracing and supporting the complete student-athlete experience."

Adair took over at Georgetown in 2014 and turned a four-win team into one that had 17 wins last season and made the NIT.

She is no stranger to the Colonial Athletic Association. Her first head coaching stint was at the College of Charleston, where she was 35-31 overall. In 2013-14, the Cougars' first season in the CAA, Adair guided College of Charleston to a record of 19-15, marking the third-highest win total in the school's Division I era.
