Benfica stays 3 points ahead of Porto with 3 rounds left

LISBON, Portugal (AP) - Benfica stayed on course to defend its Portuguese league title after beating Estoril 2-1 Saturday to keep its three-point lead over FC Porto with three rounds left.

Brazilian forward Jonas scored two goals for Benfica with the opener coming from the penalty spot in the 29th minute after Lica fouled Nelson Semedo.

After Kleber leveled for Estoril with a half-hour remaining, Jonas needed just six minutes to put Benfica back in front for good.

Porto got second-half goals from Tiquinho Soares and Andre Andre to win 2-0 at Chaves.

Porto lost defender Maxi Pereira to a direct red card for a late tackle on Davidson, which will earn him a suspension for the next round at Maritimo.

Porto then has matches against Pacos Ferreira and at Moreirense, while Benfica plays at Rio Ave, against Guimaraes and at Boavista to finish the season.
