Students relocated after Long Grove school's water pumps fail

Students who attend Kildeer Countryside Elementary School in Long Grove were relocated Tuesday after the school's water pumps failed.

Kildeer Countryside Elementary District 96 Superintendent Julie Schmidt said both the main and backup pumps failed and will need to be replaced. The school, at 3100 Old McHenry Road near downtown Long Grove, operates on well water.

The school, which serves some 465 students in grades 1-5, is scheduled to be open Wednesday, Schmidt said.

Students took classes Tuesday at the district's combined Country Meadows Elementary and Woodlawn Middle School campus, located about four miles north. Buses didn't deliver students to Kildeer Countryside Elementary in the morning; instead, the buses were rerouted directly to the Country Meadows/Woodlawn campus, Schmidt said.

The district notified parents to pick up students at regular dismissal time from the Country Meadows/Woodlawn campus, 6360-6362 Gilmer Road.
