Driver sought after leading police on chase in stolen vehicle

Police are searching for the driver of a stolen vehicle that led authorities on a chase through two Lake County communities Saturday.

The chase was underway by about 4:15 p.m. when the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff police departments received a radio alert regarding a stolen vehicle being pursued by North Chicago police, authorities said.

Lake Forest police responding to Western Avenue and Westleigh Road saw the fleeing vehicle, a black Acura MDX, turn southbound on Westleigh/Sheridan Road and began to pursue, according to the police department.

The vehicle struck the side of a landscape truck with a trailer and left the scene, police continued to give chase.

The fleeing vehicle drove on Sheridan until it turned east on McCormick Drive and entered the Villa Turicum subdivision in Lake Forest, police said. Smoke and flames were visible coming from the undercarriage of the vehicle, which stopped in the 500 block of Turicum Road and the driver and passenger fled on foot.

The passenger, Tyler M. Miller-Alford, 20, of the 1500 block of Jackson Street in North Chicago, was captured and charged with obstructing justice.

Officers from the Lake County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police and Highland Park, Bannockburn, Deerfield, and Lake Bluff police departments helped search for the driver, but he was not located.
