Two arrested posessing drugs in Antioch
Two men who were causing a disturbance in Antioch have been charged with possession of drugs, police said.
Richard C. Davis, 27, of the 400 block of Filweber Drive in Antioch, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and armed violence after his arrest Wednesday morning.
Derrick Copeland, 31, of the 2600 block of North Violet Drive in Mundelein, was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.
If found guilty on the most serious charges at trial, Davis could be sentenced up to 30 years in prison, while Copeland could be sentenced to prison for up to three years, police said.
Police said they were called to the 400 block of Filweber at 3:39 a.m. Wednesday for a disturbance in progress.
Arriving officers met up with Copeland in the parking lot of an apartment complex and began questioning him. During a search, they uncovered multiple individual packages of marijuana in his possession, police said.
Oficers found Davis attempting to hide between a car and a fence, police said. During a search of Davis, police recovered individually wrapped packages of cocaine and a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun, police said.
Officers ran a trace of the gun and discovered the weapon was stolen, police said.
Davis was ordered held in Lake County jail on $250,000 bail, and Copeland remains held in Lake County jail on $75,000 bail. Both are due back in court for a preliminary hearing April 26.
