Boys water polo: Fremd hangs on against Schaumburg
Derek Warnstedt (6 goals) and Tarun Pothanker (4) accounted for all of Fremd's scoring, which was just enough to get past Schaumburg 10-9 in MSL West boys water polo on Monday.
Sam Thomas had 4 goals and Matt Soltau and Michael Burke had 3 apiece for the Saxons, who held Fremd scoreless in the fourth quarter.
Fremd improved to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in the West, while Schaumburg slipped to 5-6 and 2-3.

Barrington 17, Palatine 7: The visiting Broncos kept their spot atop the MSL West by winning handily.
The Broncos are 10-1 overall and unbeaten at 5-0 after facing each of the West Division foes once.
Palatine slipped to 2-9 and 1-4.
Conant 14, Hoffman Estates 0: The Cougars improved to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the MSL West, 1 game back of division leader Barrington.
St. Viator 16, Mt. Carmel 12: Michael Wendling had a team-best 4 goals and Tyler Coupe and Jack Curran had 3 apiece to help the Lions roll past the Caravan.
