Girls water polo: Schaumburg comeback sinks Fremd
Schaumburg's girls water polo team came up with 4 goals in the fourth quarter while limiting Fremd to 1 in earning a 17-16 victory in Mid-Suburban West play Monday.
The game had plenty of momentum swings, with the Saxons outscoring Fremd 6-2 in the first quarter and the Vikes bouncing back with an 8-3 edge in the second quarter.
Sidney Rosenblum (5 goals), Hannah Pearson (4) and Ingrid Hay (3) led the scoring effort for Schaumburg (8-4, 3-2).
Fremd (3-7, 2-3) got 6 goals from Lauren Streitmatter and 5 from Emily Kini.
Prospect 11, Elk Grove 5: Colleen Doyle led the scoring effort for MSL East leader Prospect with 6 goals, and Connie Vuong and Emma Colehour had 2 apiece.
Gillian Guerra and Hannah Sallenback both had 2 goal for Elk Grove (3-7, 1-4).
Conant 18, Hoffman Estates 3: Nia Tsoulos (5 goals) and Aly Wooley (4) helped the Cougars improved to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the MSL West, 1 game behind division leader Barrington.
Barrington 12, Palatine 2: The MSL West leaders powered to an 8-0 halftime lead in protecting their advantage in the division.
Jackie West and Emily Schulze both scored 3 goals to pace the offensive effort for Barrington (7-0, 5-0).
Buffalo Grove 10, Rolling Meadows 7: Dasha Yermol scored 5 goals and Sarah Harner had 3 to help the Bison (5-5, 3-2) win this MSL East matchup.
Betsy Zanocco led the way for Meadows (4-7, 2-3) with 3 goals.
