'Dark Knight' composer Hans Zimmer to play Allstate Arena in August

Prolific film composer Hans Zimmer, famous for music from "Gladiator," "The Dark Knight" and "Man of Steel," will bring his first North American Tour to Rosemont this summer.

Zimmer and his large company of musicians hit the stage at 8 p.m. on Aug. 4 at Allstate Arena. Tickets go on sale to the public at 11 a.m. Friday at Ticketmaster.com; an American Express card member presale begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday; and Jam Productions and venue presales begin at 10 a.m. Thursday. Prices have not yet been released.

Zimmer's previous live shows have covered his entire career, beginning with "Rain Man" in 1988 and featuring classic scores from "Inception," "Driving Miss Daisy," the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series and his Oscar-winning music from "The Lion King."

His most recent screen credits include the No. 1 film in America, "The Boss Baby," the Oscar-nominated true-life drama "Hidden Figures," and the theme for BBC America's "Planet Earth II." He will collaborate once again with "Dark Knight" director Christopher Nolan this summer on "Dunkirk," a World War II epic coming to theaters July 21.
