Chicago Bears release defensive lineman Ferguson

The Friday release of defensive lineman Ego Ferguson leaves just six players left among former general manager Phil Emery's 20 draft picks on the Bears' roster.

There are no players remaining from Emery's first draft in 2012, which included first-rounder Shea McClellin and second-rounder Alshon Jeffery.

Only first-round guard Kyle Long remains from Emery's 2013 draft. Ferguson was a second-round pick (51st overall) out of LSU in 2014, Emery's last draft.

In three seasons, the 6-foot-2, 300-pound Ferguson played in 20 games with one start. But knee and shoulder ailments kept him on injured reserve all of last season and have kept him off the field since Week Four in 2015.

Ferguson has career totals of 36 tackles, 2 sacks and 3 pass breakups.

Five other players from the 2014 draft remain on the Bears' roster: cornerback Kyle Fuller, defensive lineman Will Sutton, running back Ka'Deem Carey, punter Pat O'Donnell and offensive tackle Charles Leno.
