Holcomb says he'll move into governor's residence in May

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb says he'll be moving soon into the official governor's residence on Indianapolis' near north side.

Holcomb already has a home in the city. But he said Friday that he, wife Janet, and their miniature schnauzer Henry plan to move into the state's designated home for the governor sometime in May.

The place where Indiana's governors choose to live has been a political issue in the past. Former Gov. Mike Pence, now vice president, lived in the official residence. But his predecessor, former Gov. Mitch Daniels, chose to live in suburban Carmel.

Holcomb says he has faced questions from people across the state about whether he would move into the governor's residence.

He says some renovations are being made to the brick, Tudor-style home.
