Ex-Arlington Heights journalist, author to speak at Willow Creek

Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington will welcome two distinguished Christian authors, including a former Daily Herald editor, to speak as part of their "Where's God in All of This?" series.

Anne Lamott, the author of seven novels and nine nonfiction books, will speak about her faith and life. Lamott lives in San Fransisco and has earned praise for her use of humor in writing about her life. Lamott is a past recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and an inductee to the California Hall of Fame. Her new book, "Hallelujah Anyway," will be released on Tuesday, April 4.

Lee Strobel, who grew up in Arlington Heights, is an author who has made it his life's work to find evidence that supports Christianity. Strobel wrote the 1998 best-seller, "The Case for Christ," which has been adapted for film and will have its red carpet premiere Thursday, April 6, at the AMC River East 21 in Chicago.

Strobel was a journalist for 14 years and was metro editor at the Daily Herald from 1984 to 1987 before leaving journalism to be a teaching pastor at Willow Creek.

The authors will speak at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and at 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Sunday.

Those who can't attend can watch at WillowCreek.tv.
