Aurora police seek man accused of beating three women

Police are investigating the beating of three women in an Aurora apartment building Monday.

Authorities are looking for a man who attacked three women - ages 67, 71, and 77 - on the 400 block of Downer Place. The suspect has been described as a white or Hispanic man, about 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, and 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing glasses, a hat and a gray coat, according to a news release from Aurora police Wednesday.

The 67-year-old woman noticed a man she did not recognize entering the apartment building about 3:30 p.m. Monday. She followed the man, and saw him walk up the stairs to the third floor, according to the news release. When the woman asked why he was there, the suspect threw her to the ground and punched her in the face.

The man ran down to the first floor, where he saw the 71-year-old woman. He threw her to the ground, took a lunchbox and lanyard she was holding and left the building, authorities said. Police were not immediately available to confirm whether the lanyard was attached to keys that would allow the man to enter the building.

Later that evening, about 9:20 p.m., the same 67-year-old woman and a 77-year-old woman both saw the man in the building again. He struck both of the women in the face and ran out, police said. He was last seen walking east on Downer Place.

None of the women accepted medical treatment.

Police have asked anyone with information to call (630) 256-5500, or contact Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
