Softball: St. Charles East sweeps Wheaton North

Rylee Stout went 4-for-5 with 2 home runs, a double, a triple and 5 RBI in Game 2 of a nonconference doubleheader Tuesday, leading the St. Charles East softball team to an 11-0 win and a sweep of Wheaton North in nonconference action. The Saints won Game 1 by an 8-1 score.

Krista Sbarra earned the win in the circle in the nightcap, allowing 5 hits with 3 strikeouts and no walks in a 7-inning effort.

Also contributing to the offense for SCE were Jordan Hieber (2 hits, 2 RBI), Alyssa Thurman (2 hits), Sara Campagna (2 hits) and Sarah Kriener (RBI).

In Game 1, Paige Ligocki and Maddie Candre (3 hits, 2B, 5 RBI) homered for the Saints (6-1) while Rylee Stout (RBI), Heiber (2B) and Hannah Cozzi (RBI) also contributed to the offense. Delaney Devor was the winning pitcher, going 6⅓ innings and allowing 2 hits with 4 strikeouts and 4 walks.

Kaneland 9, Westerville Central (OH) 3: Morgan Weber had 2 hits with a triple and 3 RBI and Lexi Abruzzo (3 hits, 3 RBI) added a double as Kaneland (2-3) won for the second straight day in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Winning pitcher Aly Jesionowski (5⅔ IP, 6 hits, 4 Ks, o BBs) added 2 hits and an RBI while Kastie Kurzrock drove in a run and Hailey Roach had a triple for the Knights.

Dundee-Crown splits: Playing in Tennessee, Dundee-Crown lost to Smyrna (Tenn.) 6-5 before coming back to beat Siegel (Tenn.) 4-3. Hannah Gestrich had 2 hits with a double and 3 RBI in the loss for the Chargers (3-2-1). In the win over Siegel, Gestrich had 4 hits with a double, Claire Weeks 2 hits and an RBI, Sydney Ruggles an RBI, Deanna Origer a double and Cady English an RBI. Ruggles was the winning pitcher with 7 strikeouts.

DeKalb 8, South Elgin 4: McKayla Timmons homered and Alissa Hargett had a triple for South Elgin (3-5) in this nonconference loss. Alivia Doyle added 2 hits for the Storm.

Lake Park 12, Hampshire 9: In the Rosemont Dome, Delaney Rummel had 3 hits with a triple and 2 RBI for Hampshire. Also contributing to the offense for the Whip-Purs (1-2) were Morgan Haefling (RBI), Peyton DeChant (2B), Melissa Esparza (2 hits, RBI), Sarah Bowen (2 hits) and Gwen Malecke (RBI).
