Baseball: St. Charles North wins in seventh inning

Sean Krueger drove in Tyler Mettetal with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday as the St. Charles North baseball team earned a 4-3 win over Anthony Wayne of Ohio at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Krueger went 4-for-4 in the game with 3 RBI while Mettetal had 2 hits including a double. Sean Nemetz also had 2 hits and an RBI for the North Stars (5-1), who conclude the trip with a morning game on Wednesday.

Bennett Christiansen picked up the win in relief for SCN on Tuesday.

ACC 8, Plano 1: Winning pitcher Michael Bieterman had 3 hits including a double and an RBI as the Chargers (5-0) won this nonconference game. Jimmy Laurenti (2 hits, 2B), Johnny Belskis (RBI), Austin Berens (2B, 3 RBI) and Patrick Flanagan (2 RBI) also contributed for Aurora Central. Bieterman went 3 innings on the mound allowing no hits with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Huntley 9, Palatine 0: Brad Model, Joe Rizzo, Brad Maurer, Tyler Koss and Matt Rodriguez all drove in runs for Huntley (4-1) in this nonconference win. Nick Laxner went 5⅔ innings on the mound and allowed 3 hits with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Jacobs 7, Wauconda 6: The Golden Eagles (4-0) scored 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth to overcome Wauconda in nonconference action. Ryan McGorian had 2 hits with a double and 3 RBI and Jacob Sonnefeldt added 2 hits with an RBI to lead the Jacobs offense. Ian Oreskovich (RBI), Braeden Wegner (2B, RBI) and Liam Oreskovich (2B) also contributed. Daulton Hoelbl picked up the win on the mound in relief.

Willowbrook 8, Batavia 2: Jake Robinson and Brent Norkus each had doubles and losing pitcher Glenn Albanese drove in 2 runs for Batavia (0-2) in this nonconference loss.

Bartlett 11, Schaumburg 1: Tyler Yang threw 4 innings allowing 2 hits with 6 strikeouts and 4 walks to lead Bartlett (2-2) to a nonconference win. Contributing offensively for the Hawks were Joey Allen (2 RBI), Eric Johansen (2B, 2 RBI), Alex Rodriguez (2B), Ryan Temesvary (RBI), Martin Moreno (RBI) and Yang (2 RBI).

Geneva 8, Conant 1: Josh Rose had 3 hits as Geneva (3-1) easily won this nonconference game. Ian Hansen had 2 RBI for the Vikings while Jack Olson (2 hits), Conor Cook, Cullen Geary and Sean Baumgartner all drove in runs. Niko DiLeo added a double and Sean Sinisko, the first of four Geneva pitchers, as credited with the win.

Homewood-Flossmoor 2, Cary-Grove 0: The Trojans (4-1) managed only 2 hits in this nonconference loss. Jake Kuhl suffered the loss on the mound.

St. Francis deSales (OH) 10, Burlington Central 0: In Myrtle Beach, the Rockets (6-1) lost for the first time this season. BC had just 2 hits.

Walther Christian 9, St. Edward 8: Despite 4 hits each from Daniel Falco (3 doubles, RBI) and Matthew Schimbke (4 RBI), the Green Wave (0-4, 0-1) lost this Metro Suburban Red game. Nolan Theriault, Jack Olson and Joey Mandarino each had RBI for St. Edward and Parker Frey added a triple.

Harvest Christian 7, Aurora Christian 3: In the Northeastern Athletic Conference opener for both teams, Dominik Olech had 2 hits, Brock Wilken a double and Zach Pawelek 2 RBI to lead Harvest Christian (6-1, 1-0). Drew Lewis was the winning pitcher. Eric Hernandez had 2 hits for Aurora Christian (1-3, 0-1).
